(Note : Barry Thomas Goldberg was 23 in 1974, the year his Minneapolis power pop group,
The Batch, split up. Rudderless, he set about recording solo album Misty Flats,
and though few would hear it in its day, he hit on something very special
indeed. The album was, instead, recorded in mono in a two-day recording binge
on a two-track Ampex tape machine. It features just Goldberg and his friend
Michael Yonkers, author of the cult 1968 LP Microminiature Love, playing guitar,
bass, harmonica, and vocals between them. In it, we hear echoes of Goldberg's
childhood in Las Vegas, where trips to the movies were surrogate babysitters
        for his single mother)

The Family Of Apostolic is a strange and rare album, a way for John Townley to live out
his vision of wild happenings in his decked out New York studio. 19 people contributed
to this one-off record, which pushes 60’s-era folk-rock and many more genres through
all manner of studio wizardry. This reissue on Future Days Recordings should open it
up to a few more ears.

John Angaiak only ever released 1 LP, this one. I’m Lost In The City is a rare
recorded example of a singer-songwriter using the Yup’ik language of the Eskimo:
Angaiak hails from icy rural Alaska. His music is useful as a document of cultural
history, but also simply wonderful as music in its own right. Remastered reissue on
Future Days Recordings.

* Officially licensed reissue.
* Featured on (Grammy nominated) Native North America (Vol. 1): Aboriginal
  Folk, Rock, and Country 1966-1985.
* Remastered from the original analogue master tapes.

The Third Power were part of Vanguard Records' shortlived but memorable sortie into
the realm of Detroit's “high energy” rock milieu of the late 1960s. Signed by staff
producer Sam Charters to the label in 1969, the Third Power's lone album for Vanguard
today stands as one of the more memorable longplayers from the scene that begat
the MC5, Stooges, Frost and others. A power trio par excellence, the band first came
together in 1965 but it was not until an extended sojourn “getting it together” at
a farm on the outskirts of Detroit that their powerful blend coalesced. Equal parts
Cream, Hendrix and Detroit rama-lama, allied to a distinctive and melodic songwriting
ability, the Third Power started to make noise at regional hotspots like the Grande
Ballroom in 1968. An obscure one-off single for the Baron label preceded the recording
of Believe in New York.

Long-time soul session musician Lee Moses (he played with Gladys Knight and Jimi
Hendrix!) made his debut as a frontman and bandleader in 1971 on Time and Place. It
wasn't a hit, but it is a classic: Moses is light enough on his feet to get that lithe
groove going, but also tough enough for his vocals and brass arrangements to carry
serious heft. Reissue on Light In The Attic.

Back on vinyl at last, here is a highly rated LP, originally released by US label
Tumbleweed in 1972. 'Abyss' basically is a folk-rock album, often piano driven, but
the late Robb Kunkel also brought bits and pieces of f.i. jazz and baroque pop to the
mix, with delightful result. This remastered reissue, released in a run of 600 copies,
is presented in a gatefold sleeve and includes an 8-page book with unseen photos, and
liner notes by Sarah Sweeney.

The definitive collection of Lee Moses' legendary non-album tracks available together
for the first time Contains three previously unreleased songs, plus the Southern soul
classic "Bad Girl" (both versions) Remastered audio LP housed in a deluxe Kraft board
jacket with insert After reissuing his much sought-after Time and Place LP, many
questions still remained (Lee was a mysterious man!) - but the one asked most was,
"wheres "Bad Girl"?!" Not included on his lone LP, "Bad Girl" is an undisputed
Southern soul classic - arguably the song Lee Moses legacy rests on. While we may
never know all we wish we knew about the man behind the music, we can finally complete
the picture of his work. You know - the tunes! And what tunes they are. How Much
Longer Must I Wait? Singles & Rarities 1965-1972 collects all of Lee Moses non-album
singles and B-sides, plus three never-released tracks together for the first time
ever. Most of the material here pre-dates 1971s Time and Place, reflecting his initial
bid for stardom via a series of now-legendary 45s recorded with Atlanta producer
Johnny Brantley. As for the unreleased recordings - much like the man himself, little
is known about them. What remains is an oeuvre that has become synonymous with raw
and emotionally charged Southern soul. Essential listening for anyone with a heart.
